Hiring a moving company is one of the best decisions one can make when moving to a new home or office. This is because moving companies today offer different types of services, from do it yourself move, to self service move, to full service move, one can choose the one that meets ones budget and limitations. With the right moving company one actually has three options to choose from. First is the full service move wherein the moving company will pack, load, deliver and unload the belongings. The second is the self service move wherein you will do the packing and the loading and unloading while the moving company will do the driving. Then lastly there is the self service move wherein you will do everything. This is nothing more than hiring a moving truck and so you will do the packing, loading, driving, unloading and unpacking. You can also find a moving company that offers storage services in case you need to store your belongings first in a safe and secured location because you cannot move just yet to your new home or office. Finding the right moving company is important if you have other requests or concerns.

Of course finding a good moving company is not enough. As the moving company has its obligations and responsibilities to you, customers also have obligations and responsibilities to fulfill. First is to read and understand the booklet which the moving company will furnish you with. The mover is required by the law to provide their customers copy of the booklet. In turn, you should read the book so that you can understand your rights, the obligations of the movers to you and what to do in case of problems with the move. Second, it is your responsibility to make sure that you get a good moving company. Since there are many moving companies today that scam their customers, it is your responsibility to find a company that is reliable and trustworthy. You are therefore responsibility to check if the company have the necessary insurance, if it is duly registered, if there are complaints about the company and how well is the company rated. Third, it is your responsibility to read the contract and understand it before signing it. If there is something that you do not understand and is not comfortable with, do not sign the contract. Consult a lawyer if possible, if not find another company. Lastly, it is your responsibility to provide the right address to the movers. If you fail to do this and your belongings get lost or you are charged additional for the delivery cost, you have no choice but to pay.
